The Albiceleste will play their first friendly against Venezuela on 22 March, while three days later they will take on African giants Morocco.

The biggest news coming out of the suqad announcement was the return of FC Barcelona superstar Messi for the first time since the 2018 World Cup.

The 31-year-old took a sabbatical from international football since a dissapointing World Cup last year, but will be welcomed back into the fold with open arms by coach Lionel Scaloni after eight months out.

"Messi has been called up and we will decide whether he plays one or two games," said Scaloni, as quoted by ESPN.

"He is playing a lot of games and physically all the players that come at this stage of the season are tired and would rather rest in the international window.

"He prefers to come and that is a very important step. I will take that decision (regarding how much he plays), not anyone else. We don't know yet."

Here is Argentina's squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Agustin Marchesin, Juan Musso, Esteban Andrada, Franco Armani.

Defenders: German Pezzella, Gabriel Mercado, Juan Foyth, Nicolas Otamendi, Walter Kannemann, Nicolas Tagliafico, Marcos Acuna, Gonzalo Montiel, Renzo Saravia, Lisandro Martinez.
