Angola and Morocco made tentative starts to their respective Africa Cup of Nations campaigns as they played out a goalless draw at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Both sides had opportunities to secure the win but it was Palancas Negras who created the more promising openings only to fall short in front of goal.
Angola made a positive start to the game as they threatened to open the scoring in the third minute. Mingo Bille gained possession out wide and cut inside before forcing Nadir Lamyaghri into a good save.
Morocco responded with Oussama Assaidi surging down the wing before squaring for Karim El Ahmadi who tested Lama with an unorthodox shot from 20 yards.
Shortly after the break Angola came extremely close to opening the scoring when Guilherme pounced on a loose ball only to see his effort go wide.
With six minutes left on the clock Angola again had a great chance to score the first goal of the tournament. This time it was Manucho who reacted first to smash a loose ball at the bottom corner of the Morocco goal, but the shot went just wide.
Angola's final opportunity to snatch all three points came in the 88th minute. Mateus provided a superb cross that picked out Manucho, but the striker could not direct the ball onto the target and saw a chance squandered once more.
