Angel Di Maria is set to make his Manchester United debut ahead of Marcos Rojo due to work permit issues.
Di Maria, who has a European passport, joined the Red Devils for a British-record signing of £60 million from Real Madrid during the week and is set to make his debut in an English Premier League match on Saturday.
His fellow Argentine countryman, Rojo, who signed for United the week prior for £16 million from Sporting Lisbon, however, is still struggling with a work permit.
Rojo has been unable to make his debut for the Premier League club as yet due to red tape, with passport issues dragging the process out and manager Louis van Gaal admits it is taking longer than he expected.
“Rojo is working on his permit because he has to go abroad for that,” said Van Gaal.
“The difference between [fellow new signing] Angel Di Maria and Rojo is that he has an Italian passport and Rojo does not.
“He has an Argentine passport and he has to work for it. Now he is abroad in Madrid to work at the embassy but it takes more time than we expected.”
