Anele Helps Genk To Victory

Racing Genk 2-1 FC Thun: Anele Ngcongca played a major part in helping Racing Genk to a win over FC Thun in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night. The Bafana Bafana man played out the entire 90 minutes and assisted the second goal for the home side, providing the cross which Jelle Vossen swept home. Julien Gorius had opened the scoring eight minutes earlier and Josef Martinez netted a late consolation for the visitors. The result took Genk to six points from two games, leaving them top of Group G.

Wigan Athletic 3-1 NK Maribor: On-loan Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell showed his potential with a brace to hand Championship side Wigan a 3-1 win over Maribor. Powell opened the scoring before Ben Watson made it 2-0. Tavares pulled a goal back for the visitors on the hour mark but Powell completed his brace with a strike in the 91st minute.

Kuban Krasnodar 0-2 Valencia: Second-half goals from Paco Alcacer and Sofiane Feghouli allowed Valencia to bounce back from their opening defeat at home to Swansea as they got their campaign back on track.

Chornomorets 0-2 PSV Eindhoven: Memphis Depay put the Dutch side ahead in the 13th minute and Florian Jozefzoon finally confirmed the result in the 89th minute.

Bordeaux 1-2 Maccabi Tel-Aviv: Jussie had put the French side ahead but Marach Yitzhaki and Micha Dor turned the game around with quickfire second-half goals.

Sevilla 2-0 SC Freiburg: Fallou Diagne was sent off for the Germans in the 62nd minute and Dirgo Perotti slotted the resulting penalty. Carlos Bacca then confirmed the win for the Spaniards late on.

Lyon 1-1 Guimaraes: Ouwo Moussa Maazou put the visitors in the lead in the 39th minute but Maxime Gonalons equalised for the French side after the break. Maazou was sent off deep into stoppage time but they held on for a point.

Trabzonsport 3-3 Lazio: The Italians failed to overtake Trabzonspor in Group J as they played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. Yusuf Erdogan and Adrian Mierzejewski put the hosts two goals ahead before Ogenyi Onazi pulled one back for Lazio. Henrique made it 3-1 in the 35th minute but a late Sergio Floccari brace secure a point for Lazio.
