Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says that Gonzalo Higuain is not poised to join Napoli.
Weekend reports suggested Los Blancos had accepted a bid from the Serie A club for the Argentine striker, who is said to be unhappy at the Bernabeu, and who has also attracted attention from Arsenal.
But Ancelotti says Real are not inclined to sell Higuain, who at his best is a lethal finisher.
And contrary to reports, Ancelotti says that Higuain actually wants to stay and make a further success of his career in Madrid.
Asked about the reports that Higuain will soon join Napoli for €40 million after the Argentine had scored in Real’s friendly win over Bournemouth, Ancelotti said: “It’s not true.
“I don’t have news about this.
“I spoke to Higuain this week. As I said, he’s a Real Madrid player and until there are news, I have to consider him a Real Madrid player and I would like he would stay with us.
“I think that now I speak of Higuain as a Real Madrid player, fantastic player, fantastic striker.
“For him tonight to score very important for us. It’s not tonight to judge the price of the player.”
