Sanchez Helps Guide Chile Past Brazil

Second-half goals from Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas saw Chile beat Brazil 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier in Santiago.

The opening 45 minutes was a cagey affair, with neither side pushing up too high. Both teams had minimal chances in the half and struggled to break each other down.

It was Vargas opened the scoring in the 72nd minute of the encounter, with Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez sealing the result late on for the Copa America champions.

Chile were in control for most of the game and were the more likely side to score, with Sanchez and Mauricio Isla both hitting the post during the 90 minutes.

Brazil missed suspended forward Neymar, and with Hulk struggling to adapt to life back in the national team, things didn't go well for them.

The Selecao looked at their best when on the counter-attack, but rarely troubled Chile's No. 1, Claudio Bravo.

The victory was the Copa America champion's eighth in 71 meetings against Brazil, and the first since 2000.
