Xavi Close To Al Arabi Move?

Al Arabi coach, Dan Petrescu, has claimed FC Barcelona star, Xavi Hernandez, has agreed to join his side.

The former Chelsea defender insists the Spain midfielder has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Qatari club.

“Xavi has signed a pre-contract with us. Other clubs were interested in him, but our offer has convinced him. I've spoken to him personally on the phone,” Petrescu told Marca.

As we stated in Friday’s transfer round up, Xavi has reportedly been offered a €8.3m (R 121 million) salary for every six months of competition.

According to RAC1, Barcelona would allow Xavi, who never played for any other club, to leave if he wants to.

The 36-year-old is currently focussing on the World Cup with Spain, but reports are heating up that he won’t be wearing a Blaugrana shirt next season.

His Spain teammate, Cesc Fabregas, has reportedly also claimed that Xavi is looking to “follow a less demanding path.”

After Carles Puyol and Victor Valdes have already bid farewell, Xavi would be Barcelona’s third captain to leave the club this summer.

He has played 723 games and scored 81 goals in 16 seasons at Camp Nou, collecting 21 major titles.
