Aguero Out For One Month

Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, is facing another month on the sidelines, City manager, Manuel Pellegrini confirmed in his pre-match press conference today.

Aguero scored the opener in City’s 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham on Wednesday, but had to be subbed off with a hamstring injury just before half-time.

The Argentine had tweeted that his substitution was more precaution, but his manager now confirmed that his in-form striker will be sidelined for four weeks.

“He will be out for maybe a month,” Pellegrini said.

"Yes, we are losing one of our best players, but he's just come back from an injury.

"It will be difficult because he is a top player for us but we have the players to replace him.

"We have Dzeko, Negredo and now Jovetic scoring so we have good players who can replace him.”

Aguero has scored 15 goals this season and Wednesday’s goal was his 50th in the Premier League, but will now miss City's game against Chelsea and perhaps even the Champions League games against Barcelona.

Pellegrini didn’t have any additional transfer news, but didn’t want to rule out a deal before the transfer deadline tonight.

"For the moment, there is no transfer news. There may be business but I have no news at the moment," the Chilean continued.

The City manager also said that his side hasn’t won anything yet and that Chelsea and Arsenal are still in the title race.

"Arsenal and Chelsea are both having a good season. Just because Chelsea have dropped points doesn’t mean they are weaker," Pellegrini added.

"We are not thinking about titles. We are thinking about improving and winning every game."

City are hosting Chelsea at the fortress, Etihad Stadium, on Monday night and will be keen to defend their 100 percent home record in a game which Chelsea’s Gary Cahill labelled the ‘ultimate test’ for his side.

Can Man City continue their brilliant home form, even without their injured main striker? Have your say in the comment section below.
