A solitary long range goal into the bottom left-hand corner of the net from Adriano saw Barcelona struggle to a 1-0 win over Malaga at the Estadio La Rosaleda on Sunday night.
With the win coach Gerardo Martino continues his perfect start to the season as his side registered their second win from two games in the La Liga.
Much was expected of Barcelona after a 7-0 thrashing of Levante last weekend, but it was not be against a stubborn Malaga defence.
Malaga were persistent in their resistance and managed to keep the Barcelona chances on goal few and far between.
Barcelona saw the lion’s share of possession, but they really struggled to get behind the 11-man defensive effort from Malaga who seemed content to try grind out a draw.
Adriano, though, had other ideas as 25-yard effort from him two minutes from half time found its way past the keeper and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net, 1-0.
Malaga’s best chance came in the dying seconds of the half as Seba Fernandez could only direct a close-range header straight at Victor Valdes.
The second half was more of the same, but Barcelona opted to relax a bit more and decided to keep hold of the ball as they grounded out tough 1-0 win.
