Adam Sinks United

A brace from Charlie Adam saw Stoke City beat Manchester United 2-1 in an English Premier League match at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

United suffered yet another defeat, but to be fair were never really in a game that was controlled and dominated by Stoke in front of their home fans.

United started positively, though, with Wayne Rooney volleying a shot just wide from the edge of the box in the 14th minute.

In the 28th minute United were afforded another rare chance when Robin Van Persie saw his header form 12-yards out deflected narrowly wide.

Ten minutes later, however, and Stoke took the lead when Adam saw his free-kick deflect off Michael Carrick and wrong footed David De Gea on its way into the net, 1-0.

The second half saw United mount a bit of a comeback and they managed to pull level two minutes after the restart when Van Persie was put through on goal by Juan Mata and he made no mistake with a fine finish, 1-1.

United’s joy, though, was short lived as Stoke re-took the lead in the 52nd minute when Adam found his second of the night with a cool finish, 2-1.

After going in front for the second time Stoke tightened up at the back and allowed United to come at them.

United’s attack, however, stuttered time and again as the Stoke City defence held firm to pick up a crucial three points.
