Brazilian superstar Neymar spent four seasons at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017, during which he scored 105 goals in 186 appearances. He left to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 but is widely expected to return to the Camp Nou in this window.
In the same year that Neymar joined Barcelona, Knowledge Musona returned to Kaizer Chiefs on a short-term deal, having previously spent two seasons at Naturena.
The Zimbabwean international won the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award during his first stint with the club, and scored an impressive 16 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions upon his return, earning himself a move to Belgium.
Paul Pogba is another big-name player who performed a career U-turn. The 2018 Fifa World Cup winner started his career at Manchester United but made only seven appearances before joining Juventus in 2012.
Four years later, after scoring 34 goals in 178 appearances and winning four Serie A titles, Pogba returned to Old Trafford and served a spell as captain last season. He has since been linked with a spectacular return to the Bianconeri.
The most recent player to return to a former ground is Mats Hummels, who has now twice traded Bayern Munich for Dortmund.
The German defender joined Dortmund from boyhood club Bayern in 2008 and spent the next eight seasons with the club.
He returned to the reigning Bundesliga champions in 2016, but recently rejoined Dortmund for a fee of €37 million (R574 million). To view the complete list, click through the gallery above!
