Most managers across Europe have an idea of what their strongest squads will be for the 2018/19 season, although there will certainly be a few more deals that will go through before the transfer deadline.

Some bosses might look for cheaper and less risky options given today's inflated market, while others could very well opt to sign a few players for free.

Italian giants Juventus recently announced the departure of long-serving Claudio Marchisio, 32, who is now without a club. The Italian spent his entire footballing career contracted to the Bianconeri, gaining incredible experience at the highest level. Capped 55 times for Italy, the midfielder is what many would consider a steal on a free deal.

Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Samir Nasri, 31, is also currently a free agent, although he is serving a ban until January 2019 after being found guilty of doping. The attacker last played for Antalyaspor in Turkey, and featured just eight times for them.

Another free agent some clubs could be tempted to swoop for is Hatem Ben Arfa, despite his poor disciplinary record. The former Paris Saint-Germain attacker is currently unemployed at the moment, as is Portuguese midfielder Miguel Veloso.

Ex-Manchester City star Yaya Toure is also still without a club following eight successful years with the Citizens. The 35-year-old has been linked with teams such as Crystal Palace and West Ham United, but is yet find a new club.

Veteran defenders Robert Huth, John Terry and Patrice Evra are all available on free contracts, as is former Crystal Palace attacker Bakary Sako. The 30-year-old forward did not quite prove himself in the Premier League, scoring just five goals in 43 games during his time in the English top flight.

Former FC Cape Town and Black Aces forward Emmanuel Emenike, who retired from international football with Nigeria in 2015, can also be snapped up for free by clubs in Europe. The 31-year-old last represented Olympiacos in Greece, scoring four goals in 10 matches.
