Manchester City broke their club transfer record when they signed Algeria international Riyad Mahrez in July. According to Transfermarkt, the Citizens paid Leicester City a whopping €67 million (R1 billion) for the winger, who signed a five-year deal with the English champions.

Ivory Coast midfielder and former Nice star Jean Michael Seri was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and FC Barcelona, but eventually joining EPL newcomers Fulham early on in the window. Reports suggest that Seri cost the Craven Cottage side €30 million (R465 million), which many consider to be a bargain in today's market.

Nigeria's 2018 FIFA World Cup star Ahmed Musa will be playing his football in Saudi Arabia this year, which might come as a shock for some. The 25-year-old, who scored two goals at the global showpiece in Russia, has left Leicester City for Al-Nassr for a fee of €16.5 million (R255 million).

At the beginning of the window, Liverpool officially unveiled new signing Naby Keita after agreeing a deal to sign the midfielder from RB Leipzig last season already. The Merseyside club reportedly paid €60 million (R930 million) for the Guinea star, who will be the club's new No. 8.
