The 24-year-old joined the Reds from AS Monaco this week, signing a long-term deal.
His €45 million (R657 million) makes him the ninth most expensive Brazilian in history after Liverpool paid as much for him as Real Madrid paid for Flamengo teenager Vinicius Junior this year, as well as to Inter Milan for Ronaldo Nazario back in 2002.
Neymar, of course, is not only the most expensive Brazilian in history, but also the world's costliest star after Paris Saint-Germain broke the transfer record for him when paying FC Barcelona his €222 million (R3.24 billion) release clause in 2017.
Philippe Coutinho became the second most expensive Selecao star when he completed his €120 million (R1.75 billion) – plus add-ons – move from Liverpool to the Blaugrana in January.
