According to Tuttosport, the Red Devils and Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will go head to head for playmaker Isco, who has fallen down the pecking order under Santiago Solari at Los Blancos.
The 26-year-old has a whopping €700 million (R11.2 billion) release clause in his current contract, which only expires in 2022, but could reportedly become available for much less at the end of the season.
Isco has seemingly fallen out of favour with Solari, and reports suggest that the Spaniard is ready to leave if the coach stays beyond the 2018/19 campaign.
United are understood to be keen on signing the Spain international in order to improve their attacking options, especially with Alexis Sanchez struggling to find his Arsenal form since joining the Old Trafford club, while Liverpool are said to sign the playmaker as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left Merseyside for Barcelona in January 2018.
Manchester City have also been linked with the La Furia Roja star, with Pep Guardiola believed to be a big admirer of the player.

Isco has struggled to impress at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, and last started a league fixture, an El Clasico, on 28 October, under previous boss Julen Lopetegui. However, with that match ending in a 5-1 defeat for Los Blancos, it was Lopetegui's final game in charge and Isco has made only substitute appearances in LaLiga since Solari has taken over.
