There is growing pressure on the Catalan club's new boss, Ernesto Valverde, who needs to revamp the current Barcelona squad in order to rival Real Madrid in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League next season.
However, looking at how Barca's signings over the past two years have fared, there needs to be an improvement this window.
Marca assessed Barcelona's signings over the past two seasons, saying the club is "not having much success with their signings, for whom moving to Catalonia would appear to be a professional risk".
Last season, the Blaugrana spent just over €122 million (R1.77 billion) on new players, namely Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Paco Alcacer, Jasper Cillessen, Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes.
However, only Umtiti has really improved the first team, while Cillessen is nailed on as Barca's second-choice keeper, but the others have largely disappointed.
Back in 2015, the club was banned from the transfer window, but bought Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal. Both had to wait until January 2016 to be registered, but also failed to live up to expectations.
The last time Barcelona had a fully convincing transfer window was in 2014/15, when Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo and Jeremy Mathieu arrived at the Camp Nou.
