Official: John Terry's Next Destination Revealed
Former Chelsea captain John Terry's next football destination has officially been revealed.
The 36-year-old has signed a one-year deal with Championship outfit Aston Villa after his contract with the Stamford Bridge club came to an end 30 June.
The central defender made more than 650 appearances for his former club, and lifted the Premier League title five times along the way.
Villa's owner Tony Xia broke the news via his personal Twitter account on Monday.
The free agent joins a Villa side that finished 13th last season, but with Steve Bruce now at the helm, many feel they could chase promotion next season.
"I am delighted to join Aston Villa," Terry told the club's official website.
"It's a club I have admired from afar for many years – there are fantastic facilities at Bodymoor Heath, Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there's a good group of players here, with an experienced and successful manager in Steve Bruce.
"I can't wait to get started now and look to help the squad achieve something special this season."
Terry, who was named the PFA Player of the Year in 2005, represented England 78 times.
