Brazil superstar Neymar has broken his silence and revealed why he decided to leave FC Barcelona for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old completed his move to the French side on Thursday evening, after his €222 million (R3.4 billion) release clause was accepted by his former club.
Neymar, who has signed a five-year deal with PSG, said he joined the club for its ambitious project and because he wants to help them win European titles.
"I am extremely happy to join Paris Saint-Germain," Neymar said, as quoted by The Guardian.
"Since I arrived in Europe, the club has always been one of the most competitive and most ambitious. And the biggest challenge, what most motivated me to join my new teammates, is to help the club to conquer the titles that their fans want.
"PSG's ambition attracted me to the club, along with the passion and the energy this brings. I have played four seasons in Europe and I feel ready to take the challenge.
"From today, I will do everything I can to help my new teammates, to open up new horizons for my club and to bring happiness to its millions of supporters around the world."
The Brazil international will be unveiled by the club on Friday, while there have even been reports that he might have his own parade in Paris.
