Mesut Ozil Unsure Of Alexis Sanchez’s Future, But Hints At His Own Stay
Mesut Ozil has admitted that he is unsure whether or not Alexis Sanchez will be an Arsenal player for very long, but he did drop a hint regarding his own future.
The Germany and Chile internationals both currently have one year left on their contracts and been locked in a stalemate with the club's board over a new deal for quite a few months now.
When asked if he thought Sanchez would sign a new deal with the club, Ozil made it clear that he had not spoken to his teammate about the matter.
“I was on vacation and did not think about anyone else, I tried to clear my mind for myself,” the German international told the Daily Mirror.
“Obviously, the player (Sanchez) has to think about his own future and that will be his own decision. It is something everyone has to respect.”
The playmaker also touched on his own future in London and hinted that his first option would be to stay at the Emirates.
“It is definitely my preference to stay, it is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal,” Ozil added.
“Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss the future.
“For now, the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”
The 28-year-old made 44 appearances for his English side last season and scored 12 goals in all competitions.
