Liverpool & Chelsea To Battle Over £65 million African Superstar
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are reportedly getting ready to battle for an African superstar valued at £65 million (R1.11 billion).
According to The Sun, the two Premier League clubs are interested in bringing Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Premier League.
The English publication believes that the Merseyside club is currently in pole position to sign the 28-year-old striker, because of his relationship with his former coach Klopp.
However, there have been rumours that the player is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, where he will play alongside the likes of Eden Hazard and N’golo Kante.
Liverpool’s board are said to be a little reluctant to meet BVB’s evaluation for the Gabon international, knowing that the forward will be demanding wages for around £180 000-a-week (R3 million).
Chelsea, on the other hand, are willing to meet Dortmund’s asking price and the player’s wages seem in line to what they pay their star players. Conte is stil looking for a new main striker after telling Diego Costa he can leave and missing out on Romelu Lukaku.
Aubameyang made 46 appearances for his Bundesliga club last season and scored 40 goals in all competitions.
