La Liga Refuse PSG's Neymar Payment

La Liga Refuse Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar Payment

By Keegan Kruger - Aug 03, 2017 12:39 PM @KeeganKruger

La Liga has refused to accept a €222 million (R3.4 billion) payment from Paris Saint-Germain's for FC Barcelona star Neymar.

Reports: La Liga Will Not Accept PSG's Bid For Neymar

According to Spanish publication AS, La Liga president Javier Tebas has followed through on his threat of not accepting the French side's bid for the Brazilian.

Lawyers representing the Ligue 1 club and Neymar arrived at the league's offices in Madrid this morning with the intention of handing over the release clause, but it was not accepted.

According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the visit to the La Liga offices only lasted 15 minutes before the representatives were turned away.

La Liga later confirmed that the reports were true.

"We can confirm that the lawyers of the player (Neymar) have come to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected. It is all the information we will give so far," a statement from La Liga read, according to AS.

Neymar bid farewell to his Barcelona teammates on Wednesday, and is expected to be unveiled as a PSG player on Friday.

@Tedd This has nothing to do with Madrid. Neymar has a €222m buy out clause and it cant be changed because its in a written contract. You cant go to spar and find prices on their products and expect to negotiate for a lesser prices. Who called you at Spar? No one. You just saw something interesting you, and you went there. Same with Neymar

What does bully mean. Spanish madrid want to rule everything. The player had buyout price as per contract and psg is legally activating it.

@ChiefNkukza If La Liga, is concerned about the state of the league, if this deal go through and Neymar, joins PSG, maybe they should try to regulate the buyout clause. Which won't happen for one reason which is teams won't agree the league, to dictate the buyout clause of a player. Why generate revenue, which you are then refused to spend it as you wish? This is hypocrisy being displayed by the league, why allow teams to determine the buyout clause of their players but then go on to refuse the deal to happen when a potential buyer shows interest? Anything with a price tag (in the market) can be bought. First step to solving this is to regulate the buyout clause, and that will stop this type of deals from happening. At least for now, the day would come when such price tag becomes a norm, just like how buying players for 40 million has become a norm overseas and that is something many (in the 80's and 90's) didn't expect to happen. But I don't think that teams will want that (regulation) to happen.

am sure barca knew from the beginning that neymar was a gonner. they were very careful with their comments. they had realized that bringing him was a big mistake. it has destabilize the team big time. the sooner he left the better. even if the deal doesn't go through , neymar wont put barca shirt on again. barca fans will never allow that

@Dr-barnes because Barcelona would simply be too strong for La Liga with that kind of pocket and two it would undermine the value and money power that la Laliga holds over competing leagues. Laliga has been known to be the biggest money spenders and only this one transaction by a French 1 league team is about to change that and probably for ever meaning a la Liga teams could be forced to pay even more for their future acquisitions and double to beat that record. in other words this transaction could be a beginning of price inflation in market so much that even Barca or Madrid cant afford some players..

It has always been said that any team that wants Neymar would have to trigger his buyout clause. PSG have done so. I don't know what's the big deal here with Laliga.

@Dr-barnes because of the FIFA FAIR PLAY RULE. The club shouldn't spend more than they've made.

But why they don't penalise Barcelona by putting the unacceptable clause prize tag on the player's head?for me I could not see the wrong doing by PSG coz they are paying what is being asked by the Barcelona so La Liga should deal with their member club.
