A player who has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona has commented on his future at Atletico Madrid.

Spain U21 midfielder Saul Niguez has been tipped to join the Blaugrana should the Spanish giants fail to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti.

The player has now spoken about the speculation, and insisted he has no intention of leaving his current employers.

"I am happy at Atletico and I feel valued, but everyone would like to earn a bit more money to be able to help out the family," Saul was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.

"I'm fine at Atletico. I don't want to leave. It was hard to get the confidence of Cholo (Diego Simeone) and now that I have it, it would be very difficult to start from zero at another team.

"I don't see myself outside Atletico, something very surprising would have to happen."

The 22-year-old made 53 appearances for the Rojiblancos last season, scoring nine goals and assisting four further strikes in all competitions.
