The Spain international previously revealed Antonio Conte informed via text that he was no longer needed at the club.

Costa was also recently spotted wearing the jersey of his former club, Atletico Madrid in a video while on holiday in Brazil.

However, the Blues boss reveals the decision to allow the striker to leave was made in January.

“I don’t like to talk about players who are not here but the only thing I can tell you [is that] in January, the Costa situation was very clear, for the club for him and his agent. For me the situation is closed.” Conte told the Telegraph.

Costa has made 120 appearances for the club, scoring 58 times and also won two Premier League titles.

With Alvaro in Blues, Conte won't regret letting unhappy Costa go. Remember the boy was disterb by the Chinese big salary and try to force his way out and that nearly cost Chelsea the league title, so its understandable that Conte told Costa to go to China now.
