One of the most high-profile names on a Squawka's "Most Pointless Premier League Signings 2016/17" list is Nolito. The Spain international arrived at Manchester City on the back of a great La Liga campaign with Celta Vigo. However, he failed to impress at the Etihad, making only nine starts and another 10 appearances from the bench in league matches.
Nolito publicly stated that he was unhappy in England, saying even his "daughter's face has changed colour – it looks like she's been living in a cave". He has already left Guardiola's side in this window, and now plies his trade for Sevilla.
Lucas Perez arrived at Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna after scoring 17 goals and assisting another 10 strikes in the 2015/16 La Liga campaign. He struggled to impress in Arsene Wenger's squad, however, scoring just one goal in 11 league appearances – nine of them from the bench.
Wenger has admitted he has not given the striker enough chances, and apologised to Perez for his minimal impact in his first season in England.
Another striker who failed to impress was Simone Zaza. The Italy forward joined West Ham United on loan from Juventus and was supposed to solve the Hammers' scoring problems. However, after starting just five games and failing to score in the first half of the season, his loan deal was terminated in January.
Other players in this gallery, as published by Squawka, include Alvaro Arbeloa, Loic Remy and Borja Baston.
