11 Transfers That Could Cost Over €100m This Window

Last season, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe cost more than €100 million, but with many top clubs preparing for massive overhauls, more than 10 deals could exceed that whopping transfer fee in this window.

Antoine Griezmann has already announced his Atletico Madrid exit, but his new club is yet to be confirmed. The 28-year-old still has four years left on his current deal, which means Atletico will likely request that his full €125 million (R2 billion) release clause be paid by any interested club. FC Barcelona are said to be keen to add the Frenchman to their squad, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with his services.

At PSG, Griezmann could potentially replace Kylian Mbappe. The 20-year-old hinted at a move away from the club at the Ligue 1 awards gala last weekend, where he was named Young Player and Player of the Year. He joined the French champions for €135 million (R2.17 billion) at the beginning of the campaign after initially moving to PSG on a one-year loan deal. Real Madrid remain heavily linked with the speedy forward, with Zinedine Zidane said to be a huge admirer of him. Any move involving the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would probably break the current transfer fee world record held by Neymar's €222 million (R3.56 billion) move to Les Parisiens.

Zidane is also reportedly keen on securing the services of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, who is expected to cost in excess of €100 million (R1.6 billion) as well. However, his former club Juventus are believed to also be interested in luring him back to Turin. Pogba joined United for €105 million (R1.68 billion), and it has been claimed he could be keen on leaving Old Trafford after the Red Devils failed to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.

Even lesser-known players such Benfica's Joao Felix, who has been the revelation in Portugal this season, could reportedly cost over €100 million in the current market. The 19-year-old has been dubbed the "next Cristiano Ronaldo" and is understood to be chased by a host of Europe's elite clubs, who would need to activate his €120 million (R1.92 billion) release clause to convince Benfica to sell their prodigy.
