A former Real Madrid goalkeeper has claimed that FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is football's "big lie".
Despite having won the Ballon d'Or five times, the Argentine is still often criticised by many for various reasons, one being the lack of titles he has with his national team.
Francisco Buyo, who won six LaLiga titles and two Copa del Reys with Los Blancos, recently slammed the 30-year-old, believing that he is not as good a player as many make him out to be.
"Messi is there to win the league and the Copa del Rey? The great players are winning the Champions League, the World Cup, the Copa America," Buyo told El Chiringuito.
"Messi is the big lie. Barca have great players around Messi. He is not as decisive as you think."
The forward, who won the league title and the Copa del Rey in 2017/18, made 54 appearances for the Blaugrana in the latest campaign, scoring 45 goals and assisting a further 18 strikes.
Do you think Buyo has a good point or is this just a bitter comment? Have your say in the comments section below.
