France starlet Kylian Mbappe set the world alight when he scored a brace against Argentina in their 218 FIFA World Cup round of 16 tie, but a national teammate of his has said the youngster should not be compared to superstar Lionel Messi.
The Paris Saint-Germain attacker put on an incredible show in Les Bleus' 4-3 win this past weekend, scoring twice and winning a penalty for his team.
However, his teammate Hugo Lloris has urged people not to compare the 19-year-old to Messi, who assisted two goals in the game, but also insisted the young striker has the world at his feet.
"We can't compare Kylian to Messi. Messi is unique. Messi is Messi – and it is impossible to compare anyone to him," he said, according to the Daily Mirror.
"But what I can say is that Kylian has this huge potential and hopefully he will reach the highest level. He has got the right mentality to get to the top level. With a lot of work I have no doubt he will reach the elite.
"We are in a World Cup, and this is the best place for Kylian to show himself to all the world.
"We know in France and in the rest of Europe that this is a player with big, big potential. Against Argentina, he has put his stamp on this World Cup, and that's important for him and his confidence.
"It is also important for the team, because we know we can trust him in important moments."
Mbappe has made 19 appearances for France's senior team so far, scoring seven goals and assisting a further six strikes.
