The Portuguese was once again on the scoresheet in his side's 1-0 victory over Morocco, taking his tally at this year's World Cup to four strikes.

However, on Sunday, England's Harry Kane overtook Ronaldo after his hat-trick against Panama. The Tottenham Hotspur attacker has now scored five goals in the tournament, the best return for an English striker since Gary Lineker netted six at the 1986 World Cup.

Romelu Lukaku became Belgium's leading goalscorer in major tournaments after scoring his seventh goal in European Championship and World Cup history. His brace in the Red Devils' 5-2 win over Tunisia took his tally at Russia 2018 to four strikes.

Russia's Denis Cheryshev and Spain's Diego Costa complete the top five with three goals each.

Neymar, meanwhile, scored his first goal of the tournament in the 96th minute against Costa Rica on Friday, while Messi is yet to find the back of the net.

@Thagalekgwara it shows your immaturity and lack of capacity to have meaningful engagements but most of all it shows how retarded, stupid and short minded you are. You are the reason why they call Chiefs' fans idiots, because of idiotic comments such as the one you just made insulting people for no reason. Next time before addressing anyone apply your mind even though you ain't got much of it. In fact do not address me in future.
