FC Barcelona have reportedly made an initial offer to Manchester City for one of their stars as they look to bolster their defensive options.
The Catalans are undergoing a major overhaul after a disappointing 2019/20 campaign, and new boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful of luring Eric Garcia back to Spain.
The centre-back's contract with the Citizens come to an end in June 2021, and he has already admitted he does not intend to extend the deal.
The Premier League giants are understood to value the player at about £36 million (R787 million), but may be willing to lower the price considerably due to the fact that he is in his last year with them.
The Daily Mail report that Barca have now lodged an initial bid of £7.2 million (R157 million) for the 19-year-old.
Garcia impressed alongside Aymeric Laporte during the 2019/20 campaign as he waited patiently for opportunities under manager Pep Guardiola, and went on to make 20 appearances in all competitions.
The Spaniard graduated from Barca's famous La Masia academy, and with Koeman attempting to build a more youthful side, Garcia could be an ideal option for the Blaugrana going forward.
