FC Barcelona are reportedly considering imposing harsh sanctions on one of their most expensive signings after the player once again put his own interests ahead of the club's.
Barca's patience for Ousmane Dembele is reportedly wearing thin after the €105 million (R1.7 billion) star fell short of the club's standards once again.
The Blaugrana are currently facing an injury crisis, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both sidelined with calf injuries, and are said to be furious with Dembele for adding to the problem.
According to AS, the winger failed to attend a medical test to assess an injury he sustained during the club's match against Athletic Bilbao last Friday, and instead took an unsanctioned flight to Senegal.
He returned to training on Monday but pulled up with pain in his hamstring, and has since been ruled out for five weeks, leaving Barca desperately short of attacking options.
The incident is the latest in a string of indiscretions that have seen Dembele sanctioned by the club on numerous occasions, for reasons as varied as oversleeping and missing training to eating poorly and refusing to come on as a substitute.
The France international has recorded 18 goals and 17 assists in 66 appearances for Barcelona so far, but this is reportedly the fifth time he has suffered a hamstring injury.
