Mahrez Shines On City Return, Lampard Off To Winning Start

Manchester City 4-1 Fulham

After a disappointing Africa Cup of Nations, Riyad Mahrez returned with a bang for Manchester City who thrashed Fulham in FA Cup third round.

The Championship side took the lead after just four minutes through Liverpool target Fabio Carvalho.

However, İlkay Gündoğan brought City level two minutes later before John Stones headed the hosts into the lead in the 13th minute.

The Citizens took control in the second half when Mahrez converted a penalty in the 53rd minute and completed his brace four minutes later.

Everton 4-1 Brentford

Frank Lampard began his Everton reign with a 4-1 victory over Brentford at Goodison Park.

Deadline day signings Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli were not in the squad, but goals from Yerry Mina and Richarlison put the hosts two goals up.

An Ivan Toney penalty reduced the deficit for the Bees on 54 minutes, but Mason Holgate and Andros Townsend got the third and fourth goals respectively for the hosts.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-1 Norwich City

Norwich City continued their resurgent run under Dean Smith after advancing to the fifth round with a 1-0 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kenny McLean got the game's only goal on the stroke halftime, which was only his second goal of the game.

Crystal Palace 2-0 Hartlepool United

Patrick Viera's Crystal Palace booked their spot in the fifth round after defeating Hartlepool United at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles took the lead in the fourth minute through Marc Guéhi, before Micheal Olisa doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute.

Southampton 2-1 Coventry City

Southampton secured passage to the next round after defeating Coventry City in extra-time.

The Championship side got off to the perfect start when Viktor Gyökeres opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but were pegged back by Stuart Armstrong's equaliser in the 63rd minute.

The game went to extra-time, but it was the Saints who got the winning goal through Kyle Walker-Peters in the 112nd minute.
