Arsenal Send Pep's Man City's Crashing Out To Book Final Spot

FA Cup Semi-Final

Result: Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City

Date: 23 April 2017

Venue: Wembley Stadium

Arsenal will meet Chelsea in the FA Cup final, after they recorded a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.

Both managers named unchanged sides from their previous Premier League encounters, as Arsene Wenger started with three at the back.

Pep Guardiola's charges saw a lot of the ball in the opening 15 minutes, but the Gunners defence managed to withstand the pressure.

Both sides were finding it difficult to carve out chances and it proved to be a stop-start affair due the number of needless fouls, which disrupted the flow of the game.

City had the ball in the ball in the back of the net in the 37th minute, but Raheem Sterling's strike was ruled out after the assistant ruled that Sane's cross went out of play.

The proved to be the final bit of goal-mouth action as the sides went into the break with the score locked at 0-0.

After a quiet start to the second half, City broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute as Yaya Toure played Sergio Aguero through on goal and the striker calmly lifted the ball over Petr Cech.

Arsenal leveled matters in the 71st minute as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain whipped the ball to the far post, where Nacho Monreal was on hand slot home, 1-1.

Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages with City going closest through Yaya Toure and Fernandinho, who both hit the woodwork.

Nonetheless, the score remained 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, which forced the clash into extra time.

Wenger's men then took the lead in the 100th minute as Sanchez sneaked in at the far post and fired home from close range, 2-1.

City pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages of extra-time, but they struggled to carve out a chance as Arsenal held on for the win.
