Euro 2016 Qualifiers
Result: Scotland 2-3 Germany
Date: 07 September 2015
Venue: Hampden Park
Thomas Muller bagged a brace and an assist to inspire Germany to a 3-2 win over Scotland in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Monday evening.
Joachim Low opted for Mario Gotze and Muller in the attack, while Mesut Ozil was also handed a start for the World Champions.
The World Champions broke the deadlock after 18 minutes, as Thomas Muller collected a pass from Toni Kroos, before gliding past a couple challenges to slot past Craig Marshall.
However, the home side leveled matters in the 28th minute when Manuel Neuer failed to deal with Shaun Maloney's free-kick, which Mats Hummels turned into his own net.
Germany restored their lead six minutes later when Muller headed home Emre Can's cross at the near post for his second of the game.
Scotland managed to hit back just before the halftime break, when the ball dropped for James McArthur, who side-footed the ball into the roof of the net.
Low's side restored their lead 10 minutes after the halftime break, when Ilkay Gundogan exchanged passes with Muller, before firing past Marshall.
The Germans went close after 60 minutes when Mario Gotze burst forward before teeing up Bastian Schweinsteiger, but the captain's effort was palmed away by Marshall.
Marshall had to be at his best in the 84th minute, as he pulled off another fine stop to keep out Gundogan's stinging effort.
The win sees Germany consolidate their spot as leaders in Group D, while Scotland drop to fourth in the group.
