Miguel Veloso netted in injury time to hand Portugal a 1-0 win over Albania in their Euro 2016 qualifier on Monday evening.
After a quiet opening, Cristiano Ronaldo nearly handed Selecao the lead in the 12th minute as he cut in from the left, before seeing his stinging shot saved by Etrit Berisha.
The visitors squandered a glaring chance just a minute later, when Nani toe-poked his effort on to the woodwork from inside the six-yard area.
The Albanian shot-stopper denied the Portuguese captain once again in the 29th minute, doing well to keep out the striker's 30-yard effort out.
Bernardo Silva nearly broke the deadlock for Portugal in the 39th minute when he played a neat one-two with Nani, before curling an effort inches wide of the upright.
The Portuguese had to wait until the 56th minute for their next chance when Cedric picked out Danny from the right, but the midfielder headed wide of the mark.
Fernando Santos introduced Ricardo Queresma for Bernardo Silva in the 65th minute with the hope of breaking the deadlock.
Albania went agonisingly close in the 73rd minute when the ball fell for Sokol Cikalleshi, who rattled the crossbar with a thumping effort.
However, Portugal secured the three points in stoppage time when Veloso rose highest to head home Quaresma's free-kick from the right-hand side.
The win sees the Selecao move top of Group I, three points ahead of second-placed Denmark.
