The 35-year-old's contract with Manchester City will come to an end on 30 June, and he will leave the club after lifting seven trophies in eight years.
However, it is now believed the Ivorian is close to a move to West Ham United, where he could link up with one of his former City bosses.
West Ham had confirmed David Moyes' departure last week, and Manuel Pellegrini, who won three titles at City with Toure in his squad, has been confirmed as new Hammers coach on Tuesday after leaving his post at China Hebei Fortune.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the African, who scored 44 goals and assisted another 20 strikes in 133 appearances under Pellegrini at the Etihad, is now "increasingly likely" to join the London club.
West Ham have reportedly tried to sign the midfielder previously, but a move did not materialise due to his high wage demands at the time.
This time around, though, Toure's salary should not be an issue, with the experienced star keen to stay in England and his agent Dimitri Seluk saying he would even repay half of his wages if a new club is unhappy with his performances.
