Yaya Toure Linked With Two Premier League Top 6 Sides
With Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure set to leave the club, the African superstar has now been linked with two top six Premier League sides.
The 35-year-old, who won seven trophies with the Citizens, has already been linked with the likes of Everton, Burnley and newly-promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Arsenal and Liverpool have now been added to the list of potential suitors.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has suggested that Arsenal’s new boss, who is yet to be announced, should take a punt on the midfielder.
"We've been talking about Arsenal, about having that sort of strength of midfield, the character and the leadership," he said via Sky Sports.
"To be fair, they could do worse than maybe have him for a season to sort out the culture in there.
"You'd have to play him in midfield, you couldn't play him at the back. You'd have to play him in midfield and get people around him with legs.
"In his first three or four seasons in the Premier League, he was outstanding, he was one of the most dominant forces.
"You talk about (Vincent) Kompany, Yaya Toure, (David) Silva, (Sergio) Aguero; they are the Manchester City players who mostly transformed Manchester City from being nowhere near winning a title to being champions of England."
In addition, former Reds midfielder David Thompson has stated that Toure has also been linked with UEFA Champions League finalists Liverpool, suggesting he could replace Emre Can, who is expected to leave the club on a free deal.
Toure made 316 appearances for City, scoring 79 goals and assisting another 50 strikes along the way. He recently revealed he would like to stay in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen where the four-time African Footballer of the Year will end up.
