The 29-year-old was a surprise absentee when the Red Devils, without their 2018 FIFA World Cup players, left for Los Angeles on Sunday for a five-match tour.
According to the BBC, the Chilean is currently banned from entering the US after accepting a 16-month suspended jail sentence for tax fraud in Spain in February.
Sanchez cannot step foot in America because, under federal law, no person found guilty of fraud can be granted a visa to enter the country, as per the English publication.
United are trying their best to sort things out with the US government, but this is taking longer than expected.
Jose Mourinho's men open their pre-season tour with a game again Mexican side Club America on Friday, and then face Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid – the latter three in the International Champions Cup.
