Liverpool's new record signing Virgil van Dijk has revealed why he chose the Reds amid speculation that Chelsea and Manchester City were also interested in his services.
The Netherlands international completed his €78.8 million (R1.2 billion) move from Southampton to Merseyside on 1 January, a transfer that made him the most expensive defender ever.
During an exclusive interview with Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher, Van Dijk revealed why he chose to move to the Reds.
"I think the size of the club, the fans, the players, the manager, the whole package here is amazing," the centre back told Carragher.
"You can see yourself that the atmosphere at every home game is amazing. I'm just very happy to play for the club."
The defender was also asked if he thinks his massive price tag will added any extra pressure.
"It doesn't make me nervous, it's a big compliment to myself for the hard work I've put in so far, that Liverpool are willing to pay that much money. I can't change anything about that," he added.
The 26-year-old scored the winner on his debut for Liverpool in their 2-1 win over Everton last week.
