Truth Behind Philippe Coutinho's Failed Barcelona Move Finally Revealed?
FC Barcelona failed to sign Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in August, but there seems to be another side to the story.
Speculation around Coutinho's potential move to the Catalan giants appeared to be a never-ending story in the recent transfer window, with the deal eventually falling through at the turn of September.
Reports from England claimed the Merseyside club had no interest in selling their star man, while Barca themselves suggested that Liverpool's valuation of the player was too high.
Although it initially looked as if the English club would hold on to Coutinho at all costs, German publication Bild has claimed that Liverpool were, in actual fact, lining up his replacement in the form of Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.
According to the report, if the Germany international had agreed a move to Jurgen Klopp's side, Coutinho might have gone to the Spanish giants, but Muller was against making the switch.
While the German publication has claimed the 28-year-old refused a move to the Anfield club, there has been plenty of speculation that he is not entirely happy at Bayern.
