Transfer Update: Aubameyang
Transfer Update: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
African superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Here is the latest on the Gabonese forward's future.
The Borussia Dortmund attacker is believed to want to leave the club in this transfer window, and as it stands, Arsenal appear to be favourites to secure his signature.
Football expert Guillem Balague feels Aubameyang would be a great signing for Arsene Wenger's side, and has suggested that the deal could include Olivier Giroud going the other way.
"What Aubameyang expects and what Arsenal expect is Dortmund to negotiate," he said, according to the Daily Star.
"The figure everyone keeps mentioning is around €60 million to €65 million cash or Giroud could be part of that equation. Of course, Dortmund have been after Giroud for a while.
"Actually, Arsenal have been after Aubameyang for a while as well, and in the summer they considered the possibility of going after him but decided against it. Arsenal are optimistic, but we'll see.
"In the case of Aubameyang, all the parts expect movement in the next few hours, in the sense that Borussia Dortmund will open the door.
"I'm convinced Aubameyang will be a great signing for Arsenal. He's a winner, he's aggressive without the ball, and he's fast, mobile and clever. In my eyes, he's better than Lacazette."
BVB have since released a statement, saying they have not had any contact with Arsenal following Wenger's comments that Aubameyang's character would suit the Gunners.
Aubameyang has scored 21 goals in 23 games across all competitions for Dortmund so far this season.
