Transfer Update: Ozil
Transfer Update: Mesut Ozil
With Germany and Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil having been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, here is the latest on his future.
The playmaker, whose current deal with the Gunners expires in 2018, has been linked with several top clubs in Europe over the past few months.
It is believed that Inter Milan and FC Barcelona have expressed their interest in the player, as well as Turkish giants Besiktas.
His agent Erkut Sogut has now provided some clarity on the 28-year-old's future, revealing that his client wants to stay in England.
"Mesut is glad to hear of Besiktas being interested in him. However, no proposal has reached us," he told Turkish publication Fanatik.
"Even if that did happen, he wants to play in the Premier League for at least two to three more years. Our contact with Arsenal continues and we are moving in a positive direction."
Sogut did not rule out a possible move to Jose Mourinho's Red Devils, although it does seem that the creative midfielder is willing to stay at Arsenal.
Ozil has played just five times for the Gunner this season, and is yet to contribute to a goal.
