Thierry Henry: I Did Not Tell Alexis Sanchez To Quit Arsenal
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has denied having any role in Alexis Sanchez's decision to quit Arsenal for Manchester United.
Sanchez completed his move to Old Trafford on Monday, with Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way in a swap deal.
In an Instagram message, the 29-year-old thanked Arsenal's staff, his former teammates and the club's fans for all the support he got over the years he spent there, and mentioned Henry when discussing his reasons for leaving the Emirates.
"I remember today, a conversation I had with Henry, a historic Arsenal player, who changed club for the same reason and today it is my turn," Sanchez wrote.
Henry, who has come under fire from the from some Gunners supporters since, has sent a tweet out insisting he had no involvement in attacker's transfer.
On Wednesday, Sanchez cleared up his statement regarding Henry, and backed what the Frenchman said.
The Chilean made 166 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 80 goals and assisting 46 further strikes.
