With Jose Mourinho reported to have been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur due to poor results, the truth behind his shock firing has now seemingly been revealed.
The Portuguese tactician was relieved of his duties on Monday morning, less than 24 hours after it was announced that Spurs were among the founding clubs of the European Super League.
It was reported that Mourinho was ultimately fired because of the club's string of poor results and performances, but it has now been claimed otherwise by The Sun h/t the Daily Star.
According to the English publication, chairman Daniel Levy decided to show the former Manchester United manager the exit door after a few first-team players had become unhappy.
It is alleged that several key figures met with Levy to lambast Mourinho's methods, particularly after Spurs crashed out of the UEFA Europa League at the round of 16 stage.
Those concerns only increased after Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris spoke privately to the club chief – they had previously been seen as players who were incredibly loyal to Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss has now been fired by three different English clubs over the past eight years, but could be back in football sooner than expected.
Questioned by journalists as to whether or not he would spend some time away from the sport, Mourinho insisted there was no need for a break.
Below are 18 players who could miss out on the coming European Championship due to their clubs agreeing to be part of the Super League!
