The Chilean is understood to have put pen to paper on a whopping £450 000 (R7.61 million) a week contract that will keep him at the club until June 2022, according to the Daily Mail.

It has been claimed that Sanchez will take home a wage of £350 000 (R5.92 million) over a four and a half years, but the amount rises to £450 000 when his image rights are included.

In so doing, he became United's new top earner by quite some distance, overtaking Paul Pogba, who reportedly sits on £290 000 (R4.91 million) a week.

Romelu Lukaku fills the last spot in the top three with a reported wage of £250 000 (R4.23 million), ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with £220 000 (R3.72 million), and David de Gea, with £200 000 (R3.38 million), who complete the top five.
