Liverpool currently top the Premier League standings with a 10-point lead over second-placed Leicester City, and the Reds also boast the English top light's most expensive January signing ever. That comes after the reigning European champions spent a massive £75 million (R1.3 billion) to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in 2018.
Chelsea's deal to bring Christian Pulisic to the club from Borussia Dortmund this past January (although he returned to Dortmund on loan) is the EPL's second-most-expensive mid-season signing of all time, with the USA international costing the Blues £58 million (R1.07 billion).
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City feature with four players on the list, the most expensive of which is Aymeric Laporte, who joined from Athletic Bilbao in January 2018 for a reported fee of £57 million (R1.05 billion).
