The 22-year-old former Monaco sensation will join City on a five-year deal when the window officially opens on 1 July, and Guardiola's side reportedly paid €50 million (R729 million) for his services.
Silva now sits in eighth position in the ranking of the most expensive transfers in Premier League history, which is headed up by Paul Pogba following his world record move from Juventus to Manchester United in 2016.
He is followed by Angel Di Maria, who joined the Red Devils back in 2014 for a then English record fee of €75 million (R1.1 billion). A year later, Kevin De Bruyne joined Manchester City for €74 million (R1 billion), which is currently the third most expensive deal.
Raheem Sterling joined City for €62.5 million (R911 million) in 2015, while Anthony Martial's €60 million (R875 million) move from Monaco to Manchester United made him the most expensive teenager in football history the same year.
Fernando Torres' €58.5 million (R853 million) deadline day move from Liverpool to Chelsea in January 2011 sits in sixth spot in the ranking.
John Stones was Guardiola's most expensive acquisition during his first transfer window at City, while Silva is the most expensive deal of the current window, which has not even officially opened yet.
Leroy Sane's deal to City cost as much as Silva's transfer and sits in ninth spot, while Mesut Ozil's move from Real Madrid to Arsenal for €47 million (R685 million) completes the top 10.
