The 10 Clubs With The Highest Wage Bills In Europe In 2016

Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, as well as French side Paris Saint-Germain, were among the 10 clubs in Europe that spent the most on player wages in 2016.

A recent report from UEFA showed that FC Barcelona spent €372 million (R5.54 billion) on player wages in the 2016 financial year, the most across clubs in Europe.

Premier League giants Manchester United paid €321 million (R4.78 billion) in wages, more than third-placed Real Madrid, who spent €307 million (R4.57 billion).

The team with the fourth highest wage bill in Europe that financial  year was Chelsea with €298 million (R4.43 billion), while Manchester City were in fifth place with their wage bill of €294 million (R4.37 billion).

French giants PSG were believed to have spent €292 million (R4.34 billion) on wages in 2016, more than Liverpool (with €281 million (R4.18 billion)), who were the seventh biggest spenders.

Bayern Munich were in eight place with their 2016 wage bill of €270 million (R4.02 billion).

Just behind the German giants were Arsenal with €263 million (R3.9 billion), while Serie A giants Juventus are 10th with their wage bill of €221 million (R3.3 billion).
