Following his recent remarks on the 2019 Ballon d'Or title, Sergio Aguero has clarified his comments by making a claim about FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.
Quotes attributed to the Manchester City striker recently did the rounds on social media, claiming he believes the winner of the next Ballon d'Or should be given to someone who is playing in the UEFA Champions League final.
Many publications suggesteded Aguero was snubbing his countryman and close friend Messi with these comments, but the forward has since issued a statement on what was reportedly said.
In two tweets, the 30-year-old insisted his quotes were misinterpreted, and explained that he will vote for the Barca captain for as long as he is playing professional football.
Messi has so far scored 27 goals for his club in 2019, with 20-goal man Kylian Mbappe being closest to him for the calendar year at this point in time.
