Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has apologised for his failed Panenka penalty in the defeat to Chelsea.
The Argentine striker returned to the City line-up looking to make it two goals in two matches and fire City to their fifth Premier League crown.
Pep Guardiola's charge were awarded a penalty on the stroke halftime and Aguero, who has been reliable from the spot, went for the Panenka which didn't work out as Chelsea goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy was able to make the save with one hand.
City's all-time leading scorer took to social media after the game to apologise to the supporters
Guardiola, meanwhile, was not critical of his striker after the game despite ending up on the losing side.
“It is a penalty. That is all. It has happened. So next time we try to score our penalty," he told Sky Sports.
“It is the opinion of the fourth official and Anthony, they know it. Nothing else I can say.
“Sometimes we make mistakes. Maybe they believe it is not a mistake. It has been seen on TV that it is a penalty.”
