Mane Joins Liverpool Greats After Brace Heroics

After scoring a brace in Liverpool's Premier League victory on the weekend, African star Sadio Mane became only the fifth player ever to find the back of the net in six consecutive league clashes at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's side came from behind to secure a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Burnley on Sunday, with Roberto Firmino and Mane each netting a brace to ensure Liverpool remain in the chase for their maiden league trophy in the Premier League era.

Mane, who found the back of the net in each half against the Clarets, has been in sensational form of in front of goal of a late, often outshining fellow strike partners Mohamed Salah and Firmino.

The 26-year-old's scoring streak on home soil started in Liverpool's 5-1 rout of Arsenal in December 2018 and continued in victories over Crystal Palace (4-3), Bournemouth (3-0), Watford (5-0) and Burnley (4-2), as well as the 1-1 draw with Leicester City in January 2019, as per Opta Sports.

While Mane's streak is quite impressive, the timing of some of the Senegalese's strikes should be duly noted in accordance with Liverpool's title bid.

The former Red Bull Salzburg star's strike in the 1-1 draw with the Foxes earned Klopp's side a point, while his 93rd minute goal in the 4-3 victory over Palace helped his side secure maximum points at a stage in the title race when every point dropped or gained counts.

The Senegal international's latest achievement sees him join a star-studded list of Liverpool players to have found the back of the net on six successive occasions in front of the Kop, and it includes a two-time African Player of the Year as well as a former Real Madrid striker.
